Community Content

Collecting information from your visitors

Each webpage can either present content and/or collect information from your users. For example you may want to have a mailing list whereby user's opt-in to receive a regular newsletter from your website. We can set up a mailing list so that you can keep in touch with your users and encourage them to return to your site when something new is added or for when you have a special offer or are hosting an event. Users enter their name and email address and are automatically added to the mailing list. When you wish to send out a newsletter, log-on to our mailing list manager and enter or paste in the text to send and that's it, the news letter gets sent to all the subscribers of your mailing list. There is no maintenance of the mailing list, subscribers can easily self un-subscribe themselves if they wish.

If is highly recommended that you have some form of feedback web page by whereby users can input their thoughts, comments and requests to you, with regards to the website and what you have to offer. The users input would be automatically emailed to any email address you wish. A special email addresses can be set up just for feedback.

You could also conduct an online poll or questionnaire to see what the users of your website think about a certain subject. The results of which can be then feed into a database such as Microsoft Access and analysed.

Community Content

You could also include community building elements such as forums and chat rooms. This allows people on your site to interact with each other and exchange information or discuss certain topics. Forums and chat rooms are most appropriate for information sharing and educational websites. Forums especially are an invaluable resource for people and a way to get people involved with your website and ultimately get people to visit your site again in the future. You have complete control over your forum with a simple online forum manager. This allows you to approve postings to your forum, add new topics, bar users etc.

We use open source software to impliment forums, chat rooms etc. which are free but of good quality, usually better, than most comercial or bespoke products. The savings are passed on to you.
